My RV only has 12V USB ports to charge the DVR and no cigarette lighter. Can I use the USB cord to charge the unit?

THE USB PORT SHOULD BE 5 VDC. IT SHOULD WORK FOR CHARGING A PHONE OR ANYTHING ELSE
